The principles of a circular economy concern designing out waste, regenerating ecosystems and keeping items in use. Decoupling the economy from material flows—improving the rate of resource productivity faster than the economic growth rate—is also a consistent guide. By evolving with the growing number of applications of circular economy principles, and consolidating these strategies across thematic areas, Circle Economy’s Key Elements Framework (KE) renders the elements of the circular economy salient and serves as a basis to derive contextual strategies and interventions. 


The Framework consists of:
- Core Elements: Activities directly handling product or material flows; and uniquely,
- Enabling Elements: those that remove obstacles for core actors.

Based on the work of [Bocken et al. (2016)](https://www.researchgate.net/publication/309699661_Product_design_and_business_model_strategies_for_a_circular_economy), the Four Flows Framework serves as a simple framework for managing resource flows in a circular economy by using less (Narrow), using for longer (Slow), using again (Cycle), and using clean, regenerative materials and energy (Regenerate).

These different principles of circular economy can be applied to our socioeconomic metabolism: we can design stocks like buildings, infrastructure, machinery, and vehicles to be rich resource mines for the future, and design manufactured goods and consumables to be cycled and made regenerative. Furthermore, the focus must also centre on getting more value out of fewer materials. Achieving the aims of a circular economy—minimising material use, regenerating the Earth, and preventing material losses—can be done through these four key strategies mentioned above.

Create your own floor plan, change it later. Truly anything goes.     Each Wikkelhouse is tailor-made by our specialized craftsmen. Extra windows, different finishings or your own color scheme – share your ideas and we’ll create the perfect Wikkelhouse for you.      Would you like a kitchen in your Wikkelhouse? A bathroom? A shower? Include our smart Home-segment to your Wikkelhouse layout and you’re set for life.     Wood looks amazing and is as sustainable as you can get. That’s why over 60% of your Wikkelhouse is made of wood. We only use renewable materials, work hard to lower our carbon emissions and continuously look for new ways to work even more sustainably.      Flax is one of the oldest sustainable fibers. You can use it to make linen, firehoses – and Wikkelhouses. We use it as an insulator. Flax keeps the noise out and makes sure your Wikkelhouse stays nice and warm.      We wrap Wikkelhouses in cardboard, or ‘wikkelen’, as we say in Dutch. Cardboard isolates and gives your house exceptional constructive strength. As you know, cardboard is made of wood. But did you know we can build five times as many Wikkelhouses from one tree by using wood and cardboard, instead of just wood?      Cover your Wikkelroof with solar panels and let nature do the rest.    Since Wikkelhouse is a modular concept the price is based on the configuration of segments needed. You can purchase a Wikkelhouse starting from EUR 40.000,- excl. VAT (based on 3 segments and excluding transport and placement). However, most houses are sold in between EUR 50.000,- and 85.000,- excl. VAT, transport and placement. For more detailed info, send a request through the contact form, you’ll receive a price list.
   Yes, yes and yes. Simply add a smart ‘Home’-segment to your Wikkelhouse design. This segment holds all domestic installations and offers you a kitchen, shower and bathroom.
   You can make your Wikkelhouse as big as you want, but one segment is 5 m2 (length: 4,5 meters / width: 1,2 meters / height: 3,5 meters).

WikkelHouse 

<p>Fiction factory based in Amsterdam has developed a design for a small-scale home called Wikkelhouse. The house utilises high strength cardboard as a main element of the structure, using 24 layers of cardboard wrapped around a house- shaped mould. The design of Wikkelhouse is modular, with different segments in various configurations that can be linked together into a larger structure.
