EURATEX, the European Apparel and Textile Confederation, aims to change how we make, use and dispose of textiles through the implementation of a new Textile Strategy based on circular interventions. The document highlights how the Textile Strategy can enable the circular transition and support industry throughout Europe, and hopes to remove structural barriers and put forward solutions. It delineates 12 key points to realise the EU textile circular economy, along with six enabling conditions across the 12 points. Partnerships between buyers and makers, increased standardisation of material quality, incentivised circular design and green public procurement are among the measures that will drive a circular transition in textiles. The document closes with 38 proposals for implementing such strategies.
