Releaf Paper is a pioneering and forward-thinking organization that transforms environmentally friendly waste into precious resources for the paper and packaging sector.

Their objective is to manufacture environmentally friendly paper without causing any harm to the environment.

Not only do they manufacture paper from fallen leaves, but they also provide brands with their own eco-friendly packaging created from Releaf Paper.

Problem

Certain pulp and paper manufacturing facilities have an excessively significant impact on the environment.

Negligent extraction from natural forests can endanger delicate ecosystems and species, as well as result in soil erosion.

The annual leaf collection in an average city amounts to a minimum of 8,000 tons, while the combined potential of urban areas in Europe alone surpasses 1 million tons.

Solution

Produced using fibers derived from rapidly renewable fallen leaves, this product does not involve the use of wood pulp in its manufacturing process. It emits only 0.066 kg of CO2 per kg during production, making it an environmentally friendly choice. Furthermore, it can be disposed of in the standard paper waste stream.

How does it work?

- Leaves Transportation

Leaves are obtained from urban ecosystems within cities, specifically from residential districts, parks, and sidewalks. The municipal services collect and deliver these leaves to them.

- Pre-Treatment

They remove the leaves from solid substances, cleanse them, and then proceed to dry them. By compressing the purified leaves, they are able to store the raw materials throughout the entire year, thereby guaranteeing the stability of their production cycle.

- Treatment

Different types of products require different treatment methods, such as mechanical or thermo-mechanical processes, on specialized industrial equipment. This transformation results in the conversion of green mass into raw materials that possess the necessary properties for paper formation.

- Paper Production

Paper manufacturing relies on partnering with paper mills under contract. The production of paper can vary based on requirements, utilizing Releaf Fiber exclusively or in combination with recycled paper or new pulp.

Outcome

The sustainable power of 0%-wood Releaf Filler.

- Only 0,066 kg CO2 per kg during production

- Only 0,002 l of water per kg during production

- <20 km logistics of raw materials

- One year time of restoration

- Chemicals-free production process

- 55 days time of biodegradation
