TR41 Region Industrial Symbiosis Programme

In line with TR41 2014-2023 Regional Plan priorities; a regional industrial symbiosis programme was carried out between 2014-2020 in order to ensure the efficient use of resources in Bursa, Eskisehir and Bilecik provinces.

The main purpose of the program was to raise awareness for the dissemination of industrial symbiosis practices in the region, to determine the current potential and strategy by making regional and sectoral analyzes, to carry out communication activities and to establish the infrastructure for the sustainability and dissemination of industrial symbiosis practices.

Problem

TR region of Turkey is an industry concentrated area with many organized industrial zones as well as activities in mining, quarrying, and agricultural. Industrial symbiosis has significant potential and benefits especially in resource efficiency and developing a culture of collaboration in our region. Hence, the strategy for the region is identified as “to implement industrial symbiosis practices that provide both environmental and economic benefits in order to increase inter-firm cooperation and collaboration”.

- 5 resource matching workshops

- 150+ company visits
