CleanDye provides a new technique to dye polyester textiles with carbon dioxide instead of water. The efficiency of reusing CO2 is up to 95% for each batch.
Due to the water scarcity and pollution of traditional textile dyeing, the water near the textile factory is usually undrinkable and toxic to the nearby inhabitants.
CO2 is converted into liquid before going into the dyeing process. Then it is used instead of water to intact with the colour materials.
The new dyeing technique does not require using water. The water consumption is used only for the washing process. The technology currently works with polyester fabrics, with polyamides coming soon. CleanDye predicts that long-term operating costs will be 40-60% lower than the industry standard.
The current factory of CleanDye is now in Vietnam. They are developing some sustainable supply chains and product development.
