This collection has been built by a community of passionate researchers, students, and industry professionals as part of <a href="https://worldcirculartextilesday.com/" target="_blank">World Circular Textiles Day</a> (WCTD). 


World Circular Textiles Day takes place every year on 8th October.  Our vision is to galvanise the collective ambitions and goals of people, organisations and businesses to reach a fully circular textiles world by 2050. Our mission is to provide a framework for circularity stakeholders to develop and deliver a collaborative, evolving roadmap and to chart circularity’s momentum annually from the 8th of October until 2050.

What does fully circular by 2050 mean?
- Shared textile resources, in the form of products and raw materials, are kept in **continual circulation**.
- Virgin resources are **replaced with circular materials**.
- Dignity, equity, and equality for the **people** involved in all parts of the circular value chain.

We need to know where we stand today to chart how to get to 100% Circularity by 2050. What circular activity is currently happening in the textiles and apparel industry, and where in the world is it happening? The WCTD Collection aims to answer this question by building the world’s largest digital library of circular textiles case studies.

Regenerate strategies phase out hazardous or toxic materials and processes and substitute them with regenerative biomass resources. A circular economy aims to mimic natural cycles—by shifting to more regenerative farming practices, for example—while also maximising the share of circular biomass that enters the economy. Regeneration can happen both at the systems level (by designing regenerative processes) as well as at the product level (by switching synthetic to organic fertilisers, for example).

The principles of a circular economy concern designing out waste, regenerating ecosystems and keeping items in use. Decoupling the economy from material flows—improving the rate of resource productivity faster than the economic growth rate—is also a consistent guide. By evolving with the growing number of applications of circular economy principles, and consolidating these strategies across thematic areas, Circle Economy’s Key Elements Framework (KE) renders the elements of the circular economy salient and serves as a basis to derive contextual strategies and interventions. 


The Framework consists of:
- Core Elements: Activities directly handling product or material flows; and uniquely,
- Enabling Elements: those that remove obstacles for core actors.

Circle Economy's framework of strategies and activities that define the circular economy

Based on the work of [Bocken et al. (2016)](https://www.researchgate.net/publication/309699661_Product_design_and_business_model_strategies_for_a_circular_economy), the Four Flows Framework serves as a simple framework for managing resource flows in a circular economy by using less (Narrow), using for longer (Slow), using again (Cycle), and using clean, regenerative materials and energy (Regenerate).

These different principles of circular economy can be applied to our socioeconomic metabolism: we can design stocks like buildings, infrastructure, machinery, and vehicles to be rich resource mines for the future, and design manufactured goods and consumables to be cycled and made regenerative. Furthermore, the focus must also centre on getting more value out of fewer materials. Achieving the aims of a circular economy—minimising material use, regenerating the Earth, and preventing material losses—can be done through these four key strategies mentioned above.

ENACTUS Our mission is to engage the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders to use innovation and business principles to make a change.  We at Enactus have a vision to make this world a better place, one sustainable step at a time. The Enactus network of global business, academic and student leaders are unified by this vision. With a total of more than 72,000 members across 1730 campuses, Enactus as a value driven organisation impacts around 1.3 million lives each year.WHAT WE DOGuided by educators and supported by business leaders, teams of students conduct needs assessments in their community, identify potential solutions to complex issues and implement community impact projects. Members also aim to cover varied Sustainable Development Goals as given by the United Nations through their projects. An annual series of regional and national competitions showcases Enactus teams’ impact, evaluated by global business leaders. National champion teams advance to the prestigious Enactus World Cup for competition, collaboration and celebration.  ENACTUS ARYABHATTAEnactus Aryabhatta came into existence in 2016, when a group of young ingenious minds decided to take entrepreneurial action to help their community and become a part of the global network. Students at Enactus Aryabhatta have been demonstrating that business has the power to inspire hope, create opportunity where little existed and ultimately improve lives and strengthen communities. Enactus Aryabhatta in its term of less than 5 years established 4 projects, and has one in the making. Our active projects include projects Utkarsh, Palaash, and Ibtida. Project Palaash is a venture to create an opportunity out of the floral waste by extracting the natural dyes,  promoting slow and sustainable fashion  and to save the deteriorating water bodies and Project Utkarsh simultaneously tackles the problems of gender bias, food wastage and fast food consumption by employing underprivileged women to make baked nachos out of the unused portions of vegetables thereby generating a healthier snacking alternative.  Our latest project, Project Ibtida is still in the works and  aims to tackle climate change by producing carbon negative materials and clean technology.Aryabhatta collegeARYABHATTA COLLEGE was founded in  2014. It is an institution directly maintained by the University of Delhi. The college was formerly known as Ram Lal Anand College (Evening) and was established in 1973 originally. The institution is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).   Aryabhatta College is a co-educational institution and conducts Humanities, Arts and Commerce courses at the undergraduate level. The institution offers undergraduate courses in 13 disciplines, with honors as well as general courses falling under the category, in addition to add-on courses. There are presently around 2200 students on the rolls of the College.

Project Palaash is an entrepreneurial venture of the global NGO Enactus' chapter in Aryabhatta College (affiliated to University of Delhi), India. The project focusses on using the wasted flower offerings from the temples to make organic dyes.

Enactus is a global NGO that describes itself as world’s largest experiential learning platform. The organization enables its network of business, academic and student leaders across the globe to be entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators. The local chapter of Enactus in Aryabhatta College (University of Delhi), India has 4 social projects running and 1 in the making.

<p>Project Palaash is a social innovation project run by the Enactus chapter of Aryabhatta College (affiliated with the University of Delhi), New Delhi, India, which aims to make organic dyes from floral waste generated from the flower offerings made in temples. The project essentially has a zero-waste model; it collects the waste flowers, produces organic dyes, composts the remaining waste and uses the wastewater to water plants. The project also collaborates with other NGOs to employ women from underprivileged classes for the dyeing process. Their products include fabrics, bedsheets, t-shirts and more.</p>
