The working poverty rate gives the proportion of the employed population living in households that are classified as poor, i.e. have consumption or income levels below a determined national or international poverty line.
Employment is a means to exit poverty and monitoring the percentage of workers that still live in poverty conditions is useful to understand what proportion of the workforce is in need of a more dignitous employment condition. They would either change job or put pressure on their employer for a better working compensation.
