Eco Smart pads are locally produced sanitary pads, made by Eco Smart Uganda. They are low cost, biodegradable in nature, and comfortable in use. The pads are made from locally available sugarcane fibre, which makes them commercially viable for women and girls in low resource environments.

This case study has been created as part of Footprints Africa's work to build a comprehensive open-source database of circular economy initiatives in Africa.
