Toronto's Green Standard Version 3 is Toronto's sustainable design requirements for new private and city-owned developments. All planning applications submitted after May 1st 2018 are required to meet the standard. There are three different variations for low to mid-rise residential, high-rise and non-residential, and city-owned buildings. The standard for private buildings includes 4 different tiers of performance, tier 1 mandatory and other voluntary. Upper tiers include provision for material salvage and reuse, additional waste diversion, and sustainable sourcing of materials.
