Founded in 2014 in Victoria, British Columbia, Scale Collaborative initially set out to support community level initiatives to scale up for greater impact. The team quickly found that many initiatives were met with uncertainty due to changing funding models and a lack of resources and capacity to scale. The company then shifted to explore how non-profits could become more independent, resilient and impactful, incorporating social, financial and environmental sustainability into their operations. Financial independence and diversification are in fact key to resilient organizations that are then able to scale innovation and increase their impact. Scale Collaborative is now an estalished consulting service company in the non-profit organization management sector, and helps organizations transform through coaching and consulting, programs and capacity building, and supportive eco-system initiatives. Since 2014, the company has worked with hundreds of organizations and have convened initiatives such as Social Enterprise Catalyst (30+ partners), Coastal Communities Social Procurement Initiative (20+ members), and Thrive Impact Fund. In response to COVID-19 and in partnership with community allies, Scale supported 60+ non-profits and charities through ‘Survive & Recover’ and THRIVE programs with a focus on financial resilience. Scale manages theDock - Centre for Social Impact, a community space for social entrepreneurship, coworking and community gathering, innovative programs and events. Additionally, it supports leaders, organizations and public institutions to incorporate enterprising and impactful approaches to strengthen local communities and social economy.
