As a part of its Carbon-Neutral Helsinki 2035 Action Plan, the City of Helsinki has created a Roadmap for Circular and Sharing Economy. The document focuses on four areas: construction, procurement, green waste and sharing economy (as well as novel businesses models in the circular economy). Each focus area has target results set for 2035, with individualised action plans and interim goals set over the next decade and a half. The roadmap’s primary focus is to reduce plastic consumption and increase the use of recycled plastic. The policy portfolio was developed through expert consultation coordinated by the City’s Environmental Services. In its implementation, several jobs will arise, as realising the goals of the roadmap will require staff for implementation, monitoring, training, pilot programs and planning.
