No Food Waste is an Indian non-profit dedicated to excess food recovery and redistribution. Typically, large quantities of food from events like weddings and parties are left untouched; No Food Waste collects this untouched food to redistribute to the hungry, after repackaging and performing quality checks. Food that has spoiled is still diverted from landfill in many cases, and is sent to compost or biogas plants. The organisation partners with local governments, CSR partners and volunteers to create sub-divisions across cities. It also aims to raise awareness about food loss and waste amongst citizens and inspire behavioural change through information sharing and guidance. Since the initiative was started in 2014, it has collected and distributed over one million plates of food and prevented 321 tonnes from going to landfill. 96% of calls to collect surplus food were answered successfully.
