Nike's Flyleather shoes look like real leather when in fact the material is made of leather scraps and synthetics to create a less damaging and more durable shoe. Flyleather is created by collecting leftover leather scraps from previous production, processing these into fibers and mixing these recycled fibers with synthetic ones. The material is not only more durable compared to common leather but also reduces the carbon footprint and water consumption significantly. Nevertheless, due to the combination of different materials it could be an obstacle for recycling and reusing the materials for a new shoe.
