Huntsman produces a line of metal-free reactive dyes for wool called Lanasol CE, which has been designed to replace the outdated chrome dyeing technique. It is particularly used for the exhaust dyeing of untreated, chlorinated and machine-washable wool at all processing stages, especially loose stock, slubbing and yarn. Potassium dichromate, the mordant used in the after treatment of chromes dyes have been listed by the European REACH legislation under Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) and chromium is listed as a critical raw material.
