Austria Recycling is an association for the promotion of recycling and environmental protection in Austria. The aim is to promote recycling and resource efficiency by developing processes, know-how sharing, and technology tools. Initiated in 1946 organizing collection campaigns to provide raw materials for the manufacturing industry, Austria Recycling has now established a country-wide waste collection system. The association develops resource efficiency programmes especially for SMEs, it researches sustainable consumer behaviour, and shares knowledge worldwide to drive collaboration and advancements throughout sectors and industries. Together with international partner institutions, Austria Recycling focuses on knowledge sharing in emerging economies, where scarcity and abundance coexist: industries use modern production technologies, but they lack recycling management and resource efficiency. Here, the company initiates resource efficiency programs, provides the necessary tools for the sustainable implementation of resource efficiency, and develops the culturally appropriate skills and attitudes for sustainable entrepreneurship.
