Key elements of the circular economy

SLAG-REC, an innovative research project recently completed in Italy, aims at
realising a new system for slag recycling and introducing it to the market.
This would reduce the 12 million tons of steel industry slag currently dumped
every year. The new slag treatment method used in SLAG-REC produces a perfect
substitute for natural sand and gravel, materials which are widely used in the
road construction industry
