DTRCP (Deposit to Return Clothing Project) is a smart clothing collection network that places the user at the center of its operations and directly addresses Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). This innovative solution not only bridges the gap in textile collection and sorting but also aligns with Deposit Return Schemes (DPP) and other relevant policies and innovations within the textile industry.
Currently, DTRCP is preparing a proposal for the EU, UK, and USA governments. The smart clothing collection pods are strategically designed to facilitate this innovative approach once approved.
Problem:
1. Inefficient Textile Collection and Sorting: Many regions lack effective systems for collecting and sorting used textiles, leading to significant amounts of clothing ending up in landfills.
2. Environmental Impact: The fast fashion industry contributes to environmental degradation through excessive waste and pollution. There is a pressing need for sustainable practices in clothing disposal and recycling.
3. Lack of Consumer Engagement: Consumers often feel disconnected from the recycling process and may not know how or where to responsibly dispose of their clothing.
4. Compliance with Regulations: The textile industry faces increasing regulatory pressure to adopt sustainable practices and comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies.
Solution:
1. Smart Clothing Collection Network: DTRCP offers an innovative network of smart clothing collection pods that streamline the collection and pre-sorting of textiles, making it easier for consumers to recycle their clothing.
2. User-Centric Approach: By placing the user at the center of operations, DTRCP engages consumers and encourages responsible disposal practices, fostering a culture of sustainability.
3. Alignment with Policies: The project aligns with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and Digital Product Passport (DPP) initiatives, ensuring compliance with emerging regulations and enhancing the sustainability of the textile industry.
4. Proposal for a Deposit Return Scheme: By proposing a Deposit Return Scheme for clothing, DTRCP incentivizes consumers to return their clothing for recycling, further reducing waste and promoting circular economy practices.
By addressing these problems and providing innovative solutions, DTRCP aims to transform the textile industry into a more sustainable and responsible sector.
The company is currently working on the innovation and looking into bigger scale partnerships with Retailers, brands, Online businesses, B2B -reselling businesses and Sorting/ recycling centers and NGOs. 2025 is a pilot stage and roll out in 2026-2027
