Today, the issue of climate change concerns us all.

Problem

 

Cities are in a bottleneck between the need to build housing: with a delay of 20,000 housing units per year AND the need to reduce their environmental impact by stopping the urban sprawl that causes the artificialization of natural soils. The ultra-polluting and energy-intensive building industry must change its construction model and tackle the renovation of the 4.8M thermal strainers in France. We have the solution to create green housing, ensure the energy renovation of the existing stock and move towards a desirable and resilient city.

 


Solution

By raising condominiums, we finance and execute the energy renovation work of these buildings. Thus, we ensure the creation of new eco-designed housing, the recovery of energy on the roof and the rehabilitation of existing buildings through energy renovation. This new virtuous economic model is a transversal solution to the challenges of the ecological and social transition of cities.


Outcome

Residential construction currently consumes in France 120 million m2 per year of natural, agricultural and forest areas; thus, accelerating the loss of biodiversity, global warming, soil sealing, pollution and the increase in distances and carbon-based mobility associated with it.

CANUPI offers an alternative to sprawling cities by raising existing buildings to create new environmentally friendly housing. 

 

On this occasion, the financial gains of the elevation are directed towards the primary objective of energy renovation of buildings, thus facilitating their realization as well as their financing in a global project.

It is in wood that the elevation work is carried out: 5x lighter, 12x more insulating than concrete and extremely faster to assemble. The use of wood structures compared to concrete reduces GHG emissions by -49%, CO2 emissions by -60%, grey energy consumption by -120%, air pollution by -115%, water pollution by -114%. These operations are also an opportunity to recover renewable energies on the roof (wind, solar, rainwater).
