Malaysians waste 16,000 tonnes of food EVERDAY which is equivalent to 45% of the total waste generated daily. These food waste will eventually end up in landfills generating GHGs and contaminating soils and harming human health in the end.

It was reported by the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation in 2019 that the food waste generated in Malaysia is enough to feed 12 million people three times a day. These thrown away food will eventually end up in landfills where they rot and produce destructive greenhouse gases and release toxic chemicals into the soil which poison the groundwater we drink, pollute our rivers, endanger wildlife and eventually affect our health.

Other than preventing waste from happening in the first place, the other better solution is to compost it, making it safe and valuable to be returned to the soil.
