Air pollution is a common thread in bigger cities around the globe. AIR-INK tackles the issue of air pollution by capturing air pollutants (2.5 – 10 PM) and processing them to ink. That way, AIR-INK aims to clean cities and "[use the soot] to make something beautiful".

Problem

Air pollution is caused by our current industry and is responsible for millions of deaths every year as well as the pollution of the natural environment. Especially bigger cities show an increase in particulate matter (PM), which is affecting the health of its citizens.

Solution

AIR-INK tackled the issue of air pollution by using this dangerous waste stream to process new products with it. That way the company aims to offset the carbon footprint in the industry whilst processing the pollutants as ink and generating new value.

Outcome

AIR-INK collaborates with different artists using their ink and publishing their work in exhibitions in London, Berlin, Singapore and New York. Additionally, the company formed the start-up "Graviky Labs", where they developed an air-filtration system to capture pollutants from cars, generators and ferries and use them for ink production.
