Terra Nova Waste to Farming sorts organic matter from urban waste to produce natural fertiliser. The fertiliser is sold to small farms and households to facilitate farming and gardening. The natural fertiliser can significantly improve crop yields and reduce the negative impact on the environment. The company aims to reduce the urban solid waste of Beira by 50-60% within four years.
This case study has been created as part of Footprints Africa's work to build a comprehensive open-source database of circular economy initiatives in Africa. We are doing this in collaboration with the African Circular Economy Network (ACEN), as part of our programme to support the circular economy transition in Africa.
