Baramoda provides solutions for farmers in arid regions in Egypt. Excess chemical fertilisers used by farmers often end up running off into and polluting scarce waterbodies. To reduce this pollution, Baramoda started producing compost from agri-waste, to offer a better alternative to farmers. The compost increases the soils ability to retain water and decreases runoff.
This case study has been created as part of Footprints Africa's work to build a comprehensive open-source database of circular economy initiatives in Africa. We are doing this in collaboration with the African Circular Economy Network (ACEN), as part of our programme to support the circular economy transition in Africa.
