In 2013, the City of Cupertino developed a Green Building Ordinance to support the use of healthy building materials and construction methods, and promote resource efficiency and conservation. The ordinance addresses the design, construction, retrofit, operation and demolition of new buildings and existing buildings undergoing major renovations.
The ordinance mandates that all new buildings and structures, additions, renovations and tenant improvements – to which California Green Building Standards Code apply – meet minimum green building requirements.
